What is cloud computing?

"The cloud" started off as a tech industry slang term. Technical diagrams often represented the servers and networking infrastructure that make up the Internet as a cloud. As more computing processes moved to this servers-and-infrastructure part of the Internet, people began to talk about moving to "the cloud" as a shorthand way of expressing where the computing processes were taking place. Today, "the cloud" is a widely accepted term for this style of computing.

Cloud computing is possible because of a technology called virtualization. Virtualization allows for the creation of a simulated, digital-only "virtual" computer that behaves as if it were a physical computer with its own hardware. The technical term for such a computer is virtual machine.

Virtual machines make more efficient use of the hardware hosting them. By running many virtual machines at once, one server can run many virtual "servers," and a data centre becomes like a whole host of data centres, able to serve many organizations.

What are the different types of cloud deployments?

Frequently asked questions

Will my data be stored off-shore?

Some cloud providers may have data centers in multiple countries, including offshore locations. It's important to review the provider's data storage and processing practices, their privacy policies, and the legal implications related to data residency and jurisdiction before choosing a cloud service.

How secure are Cloud systems?

Cloud providers invest heavily in security by utilising strong encryption, access controls, and following best practices to ensure the security of your data and applications in the cloud.

Will I need to change anything?

Migrating to the cloud may require adjustments to your IT infrastructure, applications, and processes. Depending on the complexity of your systems and the cloud service model you choose, you might need to adapt applications to work in a cloud environment, configure networking, update security protocols, and train your team on cloud-related tools and practices. It's crucial to plan the migration carefully, and working with Cloudpush will ensure a smooth transition.

Reduce your reliance on physical hardware and start saving today.

Cloud migration involves moving your workloads from in-house hardware to the cloud. There are various services that constitute a cloud computing ecosystem. Both hardware, like servers and storage devices, alongside software components, such as virtualization software and applications.

Relying simply on your own hardware just doesn't make sense anymore. Migrating to the cloud eliminates the need for upfront capital expenditures on hardware and reduces ongoing maintenance costs, instead accessing systems remotely via the internet, allowing businesses to pay for only the resources they use.
